The Australian Lallemand Animal Nutrition team recently hosted a series of Ruminant Nutrition seminars across Australia and New Zealand. Approximately 100 farmers, producers, vets and nutritionists from renowned beef and dairy companies accepted the invitation to one of the four events.
“The speakers presented the latest information and trends on rumen modification, the developing ruminant microbiome, acidosis impacts on the rumen microflora and practical challenges and solutions to feeding a ruminant,” says Alex Turney, Lallemand Animal Nutrition, Country Manager – Australia and New Zealand. “Not to mention, exploring the human brain gut axis, and what we can apply to ruminants.”
Lallemand also took the opportunity to share the results of the Rumen Health Survey that a group of surveyors have been working on for the past 12 months. The survey is a subjective assessment of five rumen characteristics, namely scaring, atrophy, papillae quality, lesions and other observables. Observations took place across five abattoirs and have been linked back to farm based performance data which yielded interesting results.
The seminar was not only platform for customers to gain an insight into the latest industry research; customers also got the opportunity to exchange experiences and discuss with Lallemand ruminant experts typical challenges of feeding as well as practical approaches for optimising nutrition and performance on farm.
