Lallemand technologies presented at Vienna Feed Symposium
Apr 22, 2016
On April 7th, the department of ‘Animal nutrition, products and nutrition physiology’ of the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna organized its 15th symposium dedicated to animal nutrition around the theme:
Feed processing for compound feed production
Around 200 participants, scientists and professionals from the feed industry coming mainly from Austria, as well as several neighboring countries. participated at this symposium. At this occasion, Lallemand Animal Nutrition was invited to present advanced technology in probiotic yeast protection– the Titan® microencapsulation technology and a technical poster describing the effects of ruminant specific yeast LEVUCELL® SC on fiber degradation in ruminant diet, translated into higher feed efficiency.
The Symposium was dedicated to discuss technologies in feed. The various challenges of compound feed production are a concern for farmers mixing their own rations as well as for large feed mills. Topics discussed included:
- availability and hygiene of raw materials
- knowledge of the nutritive value of raw and processed feed (e.g. digestibility, energy content, recommendations for feeding)
- estimation of damage as result of processing (e.g. heat damage).
In this context, the development of probiotic advanced protection technology such as Titan is of interest for feedmillers to ensure LEVUCELL® SC survival and optimal efficacy in ruminant diet.
