The benefits of yeast in ruminant diets
Aug 14, 2013

The use of live micro-organisms as feed supplements for ruminants is becoming a common practice. A recent article by Angel Aguilar, PhD, Technical Services Manager, Lallemand Animal Nutrition, entitled, “Yeast products in feed: What, why, where and when?” was published in the April 11, 2013 issue of Progressive Dairyman. It provided an overview of how to evaluate yeast products and the circumstances in which they should be used.
A follow-up article was written by Tony Hall, MSc, MSB, Technical Services, Lallemand Animal Nutrition, which outlined how a specific strain of yeast can help improve efficiencies in young and mature ruminants. Click here to read more about, “How live yeasts can improve feed efficiency in ruminants.” This article appeared in the July 1, 2013 issue of Progressive Dairyman.
These are two in a series of five editorial submissions that the Lallemand Animal Nutrition, North America technical services team has penned throughout the year for Progressive Dairyman.
