ALKOSELR397 3000: the first Selenium enriched yeast with a guaranteed minimum selenium content of 3,000 mg/kg for all animal species now authorized in European Union
Lallemand Animal Nutrition is pleased to announce that the European Commission has authorized its selenium-enriched yeast ALKOSELR397 3000 (Saccharomyces cerevisiae NCYC R397) as a nutritional feed additive (compound of trace elements) with a minimum selenium content of 3,000-3500 mg/kg for all animal species (Regulation (EC) No 634/2007)1. Both ALKOSELR397 3000 and ALKOSELR397 2000 (formerly ALKOSELR397, minimum Se content of 2,000 mg/kg) will be now available for the EU feed producers, both are guaranteed to contain 97 to 99 % of organic selenium and at least 4700ppm and 3150ppm of selenomethionine respectively
Monika KORZEKWA, Product Manager Antioxidants for Lallemand Animal Nutrition comments: “Since the initial authorization of ALKOSELR397 2000 on the European market ten years ago, we have committed to ensure our customers the consistent and optimal quality of our selenium enriched yeast. Its benefits in various animal species are now largely documented and endorsed by its users. The combination of different seleno compounds (mainly selenomethionine as well as other compounds such as selenocysteine) are even shown to be more bioavailable than inorganic sources and synthetic selenomethionine products2.”. ALKOSELR397 3000 is the first Selenium enriched yeast with a guaranteed minimum selenium content of 3,000 mg/kg available in the EU market.
ALKOSELR397 2000 and ALKOSELR397 3000 are produced in Lallemand’s own yeast plants in Grenaa, Denmark and Montreal, Canada, from the selected yeast strain Saccharomyces cerevisiae NCYC R397.
