Vale Ken Rich

Jun 09, 2020

On Friday Morning 5th June 2020 Ken Rich lost his fight with cancer while his wife Trudy was by his side.

Ken will be sorely missed by many across the agricultural industries of Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia and China. He was a passionate cyclist, agriculturalist and business man.

His love of forage and silage and contributions to the silage industry will be long remembered. He was a pioneer in the late 90s and early 2000s bringing the forage grower, the silage consumer and contractor together.

Not only did Ken grow the silage industry from the ground up, he brought new technology including inoculants, improved sealing systems and ensured specific KPI’s for silage making delivered real value to clients across Oceania.

Ken’s ability to network across the wide range of the Agriculture sector was seriously impressive. With a large network, it was a complete marvel how Ken knew so many people and retained such knowledge of them, as individuals, their families, and their businesses.

He had a particular knack for meeting people and finding out information to drive a business forward. His consistent development of ideas and concepts was astonishing and not only three weeks ago was coming up with ideas for silage projects, biogas development and pushing hard to get the Trevor Schoorl Memorial Fund going.

Ken will be long remembered for such a positive impact on people and the agriculture industry, especially silage, across Australia and beyond.

Rest in peace Ken and thank you for all that you’ve done for us.

The Rich Family will hold an intimate funeral service and ask that tributes be forwarded as cards to PO Box 6096, Maroochydore BC, QLD 4558. Donations to www.carriesbeanies4braincancer.com will be highly appreciated.
