Biofilm for livestock buildings: Lalfilm Pro
LALFILM PRO is a highly concentrated mix of live Bacillus spp. and lactic acid bacteria, specifically selected and formulated to create a protective biofilm in animal housing.
It can be used with all animal species.
* Not all products are available in all markets nor associated claims allowed in all regions.
After building surfaces are disinfected, they can be colonized by remaining bacteria or opportunistic bacteria from the animals or environment.
LALFILM PRO offers a solution to install a positive biofilm before recolonization by undesirable bacteria.
A biofilm is a structured community of microorganisms attached to a surface and enclosed in a self-produced polymer matrix (adapted from Costerton et al., 1999).
It can be formed by beneficial or undesirable bacteria.
Did you know?
It is estimated that 90% of the world’s microbial biomass is in biofilm form.
Bacteria in a biofilm form are 10 to 1,000 times more resistant to antimicrobials (disinfectants, antibiotics) compared to isolated bacteria (Briandet et al., 2012). Therefore, biofilms of pathogenic bacteria are increasingly difficult to control.
Uncontrolled farm building biofilms = increased risk of contamination of the animals by undesirable bacteria.
LALFILM PRO is a water-dispersible powder for dilution and is applied using a low-pressure spraying device.
The first application of LALFILM PRO should be made after the surfaces have been disinfected, dried, and before animals re-enter the housing structure. Additional applications are possible when animals are present if conditions allow.
LALFILM PRO is packaged in a 100 g aluminum sachet.
Dosage is calculated based on the surface to be colonized. The dosing can vary depending on the intended application and sprayer capacity.
LALFILM PRO can be kept for 24 months from date of production when kept in its original unopened packaging and in a cool, dry place.
