Lallemand group position
At Lallemand, we strive to preserve the environment by striking a balance between economic growth and environmental performance based on the triple bottom line principle: People, Planet, and Profit. Many of the solutions we offer help our customers decrease their environmental footprint, from lowering food and feed waste to reducing fossil fuel usage. Furthermore, our environmental management policies cover but are not limited to, responsible water usage, wastewater monitoring, control of the release of hazardous substances, solid waste management, reduction in airborne emissions and noise levels, as well as limiting land contamination, biodiversity conservation, and responsible energy consumption.
We are committed to addressing and assessing the impact of our policies, operations, and decisions on the ecosystem to save it from additional damage and help retain biodiversity. We comply with the principles of fair access and benefit sharing as described in the Convention on Biological Diversity of 1992, the Cartagena Protocol of 2002, and the Nagoya Protocol of 2010.
Lallemand Animal Nutrition and Sustainability
At Lallemand Animal Nutrition, we are fully conscious of the global sustainability challenges ahead (biodiversity, climate change, land use change, etc.). We recognize our obligations to reduce the carbon footprint and associated environmental impacts linked to the production of ingredients for animal feed and pet food. In parallel with the continuous improvement of our production processes, we are committed to measuring and monitoring how those improvements help reduce the footprint of our products.
For example, Lallemand Animal Nutrition has embarked on life cycle assessments (LCAs) of its microbial solutions in order to understand and assess where it is necessary to take action. We are convinced our microbial-based solutions sourced from nature can help improve the sustainability of livestock farming and aquaculture. Our products have recognized beneficial effects on animal performance, physiology, and welfare (e.g., improved behavior, reduced morbidity/mortality, improved longevity) as well as on forage preservation. Combined, this contributes to helping reduce the environmental impact of animal production. In addition, some of our solutions are shown to help improve animal and farmer welfare by reducing ammonia emissions for instance. Lallemand Animal Nutrition is committed to providing customers and valued partners with sound data on our products and explaining their role, and impact, on the sustainability of livestock farming and aquaculture.
We consider sustainability a very important topic, now and for future generations. Therefore, we want to address it seriously with adequate supportive documentation. Our company reputation is built on science and proven results. We will maintain this approach in addressing sustainability. We take this commitment seriously, with the same expertise and step-by-step methodology used to bring our leading solutions and products to market.
