Jeff Ast, Commercial Director, Lallemand Animal Nutrition North America, recently attended the Animal Agriculture Alliance Summit in Washington, D.C. to present scholarships to the winners of the College Aggies Online (CAO) program. Lallemand Animal Nutrition was a sponsor of the program for the second year. The sponsorship provided scholarships for the individual and team winners of the competition, as well as expenses for the winners to travel to the Summit to be recognized.
The Animal Agriculture Alliance’s CAO Scholarship program is an initiative aimed at helping college students and collegiate agriculture clubs share agriculture’s story. The competition is held every fall for 11 weeks. An online competition, CAO is open to all college students with an interest in agriculture. Since the competition’s inception in 2009, more than 1,500 college students from more than 100 different colleges and universities have participated in the program.
“The College Aggies Online program is important as it helps college students engage the general public in conversations about animal agriculture,” says Ast. “We are proud to be part of this program.”
The Animal Ag Alliance Summit brings together industry stakeholders for discussions on current events. This year’s focus was ‘Cracking the Millennial Code’ and centered on the trend towards transparency and engagement in food.
