International Symposium of Silage Production – Silage School in Brazil
Nov 22, 2013

From November 4th to 6th, Lallemand Animal Nutrition promoted the III International Symposium of Silage Production – Silage School, in the city of Uberlândia, an important milk production area in Brazil.
The symposium was a great success, receiving around 70 attendees, between technicians, farmers and students. The panels were presented by Lallemand Animal Nutrition Technicians and professors from renowned Brazilian universities. Beyond talking about silage, the speakers presented about other themes that are interesting for the audience, like the importance of water for production animals and the compost bedded pack, which is a recent topic in Brazil. Specifically about silage, the speakers gave a wide overview about it in practical and technical terms, like silage in general, corn silage (the most popular in the country), mycotoxins and the North American experience.
On the last day of Silage School the attendees visited a farm. In this opportunity, Lallemand technicians showed in the field a practical analysis of silage compression, particles size and temperature.
The attendees evaluated the Silage School very well, especially the speakers and topics covered by them.
Beyond this international symposium, there will be more Silage School events locally organized by sales representatives in other cities of Brazil until January 2014. These regional symposiums will be more practical, especially for producers who don’t have a great technical knowledge about silage.
