LANNA attends the official opening of EcoDairy’s Discovery Center

Jul 03, 2014

In June, Glenn Vander Woude, Territory Business Manager, Lallemand Animal Nutrition, North America, attended the official opening of the new-look Discovery Center at Bakerview EcoDairy in Abbotsford, British Columbia. The educational learning attraction celebrated a new partnership between EcoDairy and Science World British Columbia.

At the event, Vander Woude represented Lallemand Animal Nutrition by engaging in many of the new, permanent exhibits, which included informational displays and interactive activities pertaining to the EcoDairy farming experience. The new partnership with Science World provides guests a more didactic approach to agricultural learning, explaining the process behind consumers’ food production. One of the new attractions included a model cow which visitors can actually “milk”.

Lallemand Animal Nutrition has a long-standing relationship with Bill Vanderkooi, the President of Nutriva Group and founder of EcoDairy. “The initial relationship began when Bill, a dairy nutritionist, recognized the need for a live yeast to improve fiber digestibility and keep his cows comfortable; he then began selling Levucell and Alkosel across Canada through his company, Nutritech Solutions” says Ross Gill, Lallemand Animal Nutrition North America National Sales Manager and Country Manager of Canada. “Most recently, Bill has been modifying his eggs and milk products to be high in a natural source of vitamin D through Lallemand yeast.”

Vander Woude says the opening of the Discovery Center was a great success ─ attended by many industry professionals, related community representatives and members of the media. Lallemand Animal Nutrition wishes EcoDairy all the best of luck in their exciting new partnership with Science World to bring British Columbia a new way to learn about the business of agriculture.
