The history of Lallemand Animal Nutrition
Lallemand’s Animal Nutrition activities began in 1988 with the acquisition of the Equilait / Equipharm bacteria plant in Aurillac (France) and an agreement signed with Omnium Homeopathique Francais (O.H.F.), which led to the development of two active dry yeasts: LEVUCELL® SC and LEVUCELL® SB.
North American sales were strengthened in 1993 by the acquisition of Quali Tech Inc, a direct-fed microbials and silage inoculants business, which lead to the formation of Lallemand Animal Nutrition North America with the acquisition of Biotal in 2002.
The business has continued to grow rapidly through a combination of acquisitions around the world such as the purchases of Agrig8 in Australia, Katec in Brazil and internal development, to become a major global supplier of probiotics, silage inoculants and yeast derivatives.
