Anwen Jones has recently joined Lallemand Animal Nutrition as Regional Business Manager for Wales. She brings a diverse range of experience to this role as she grows the uptake of Lallemand Animal Nutrition products across the feed industry.

Anwen has 18 years’ experience of working in the ruminant animal sector and her main experience includes dealing with dairy, beef and sheep farmers focusing on nutrition, rationing and management.

What is your background?

I began my career working for Bocm Pauls before moving to Keenan, where the passion grew in ruminant nutrition and formulating diets for over 120 herds in Wales.  Having moved to Mid Wales after getting married and starting a family I then moved to Strathclyde Nutrition advising and selling a wide range of products including feed blocks, mineral supplements, and grain preservatives to farmers and merchants.

For the last 5 years I have worked for Bibby Agriculture as Dairy Development Manager, working with progressive dairy systems, with a strong focus on nutrition, production and cow welfare.  A particular focus has been the role of nutrition by concentrating on transition cow management, rumen efficiency and looking at ways to improve cow husbandry.

What is your role with Lallemand Animal Nutrition?

I will be working with farmers, distributors and feed mill’s, providing technical support and training. I will promote the range of Lallemand Animal Nutrition products to new and existing customers in order to extend their use on the farm.

What is your driving objective?

Having concentrated on nutrition and animal feed for many years, my primary objective is to improve and increase focus on production from forage.  For our farmers to remain sustainable, we need to push the boundaries on production from home grown feeds and all types of forage.  This is the most productive feed they have on farm and by far cheaper than most raw materials.   We are in a market where costs are increasing, margins are being squeezed and the demands of consumers and regulators are increasing.  My goal is to work with farmers to maximise their forage quality thus ensuring herds reach their potential yields and performance.
