Meet the team - Hartpury Home Farm - Rhiannon Thorp

Apr 08, 2021

Rhiannon Thorp, Youngstock Manager at Home Farm, Hartpury University & Hartpury College, joined the team 7 months ago, bringing great attention to detail to the role.

Rhiannon has been working closely with Andrew, the farm manager, to minimise calf mortality and maintain the highest standards of calf health and welfare in the unit. Her hard work paid off when the farm received the Cream Awards ‘Youngstock Health and Welfare’ award.

What does your day-to-day work involve?

Rhiannon manages all aspects of the calf rearing enterprise at Hartpury College & Hartpury University.

She enjoys weighing calves and seeing how much they have grown, every calf is weighed at birth and then every fortnight.

What made you want to work at Hartpury?

Rhiannon explained she is passionate about agriculture and enjoys getting to work with the students as well as being involved in research at the farm.

Tell us about yourself?

In her spare time, Rhiannon enjoys going to the gym and outdoor activities. If she could only eat one thing for the rest of her life it would be pizza.
